Supply gone!

How, when and why to introduce foods other than breastmilk

I don't feel hot but my breast have felt like they are burning - not overly painful, just noticeable. I don't know how to hand express, but I have borrowed my pump back to get some comfort! :)

On the upside, I have very round boobs today instead of my usual armpit warmers!!! Hahaha

Sounds like you're already sorted, but for the future (or if anyone else is interested) online videos are your friend for learning hand expressing. There is a link to one at https://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/bf-inf ... ring-clips but a quick search will uncover many more.

Take care of yourself Jen!

Oh thanks Parla that's really helpful! I did express, but not much came out. I'm feeling a bit "off" so I'll keep an eye on that.

Was lovely to meet you in Melbourne :)

How are your boobs feeling now? Could you try hand expressing a little in the shower?

If the 'feeling a little off' turns into feeling very off please go see a doctor. You could be developing mastitis especially if your boobs are still feeling hot. Are they lumpy at all? Do you still have the pain in your armpits?

I successfully tried hand expressing in the shower and the armpit pain and burning feeling reduced. I'm a bit hot and cold, so if that gets worse I'll see a Dr in the morning. I'm generally ok though :) Mum is staying and will take H all night, so maybe with rest I'll be completely ok in the morning :)

How are you today Jen?

If you are still feeling off at all, please consider going to your GP. Hopefully you managed to get rid of it from expressing, but mastitis can set in pretty quickly.

Yay for your mum being there too.

Thanks Penguin and Mooki.

I'm loads better thanks, the burning feeling has disappeared completely today and my boobs are soft again (bye bye cold armpits :)). I'm not feeling hot and cold today, think sleeping last night helped. I tried to hand express again in the shower, but only got a couple of drips out. I don't feel uncomfortable, so I think I am ok.
