Thanks Mooki and Snowie! I've sent you a PM Snowie!

I was doing done reading- what can you tell me about neck issues in newborns and the effects on feeding. This bub doesn't have torticollis, but could a mild reduction in neck range affect feeding? Just brainstorming ideas! Or might the symptoms my friend is experiencing be in the realm of normal?

Thanks again!

Depending on position in utero and birthing some babies are known to have a sore neck and therefore difficulty attaching especially to one side. May well be worth looking for an osteopath or chiropractor or physiotherapist who specialises in newborn treatment if the mum suspects that bub may have a sore neck.

Your friend is just powering on, such a shame that she is having so many issues. Its great that you're supporting her.

So I just chatted with her on the book- it's only one side that's sore and is less painful with football hold- so maybe it is neck... I'm a Physio, this my curiosity!! :)

Thanks again for the thoughts!

My ds1 was like this. I ended up taking him to the osteo and it really improved feeding - I could feed him not in football hold on my left side after a while!

Has she tried feeding lying down? Or letting him do the breast crawl?

Well bub is 6 weeks old and is going great guns! Exclusively breastfed and Mum is over the moon! And I am exceptionally proud of her! :)

I also have a cracked nipple I am glad I came across this thread. My Dr {Name removed in line with Code of Ethics - Mod] suggested I let my breast get some air.
I wish you all the best. Thank you
