Cries after each feed / frothy yellow poo

Post by Megans14 » Wed Apr 05, 2017 12:00 pm

Hi there, my new born (2 weeks + 2 days) had been feeding like a champ up until 2 days ago where he now suddenly come off the breast, is milk drunk for about 2-3min and then starts crying and eventually screaming. His signals look like a burp / wind even though I do burp him a bit straight after. The symptoms seems to be worse in that day than at night?

Google (a dangerous source I know) showed a few articles that talk about a foremilk / hind milk imbalance? Could this also explain the frothy poo? Or is this an old wives tale?

Any advice please. I hate seeing my Bub in such pain after each feed.

Hi and congratulations.

I found block feeding useful.....have you seen any information about what it is?

Hi Megans14! Congratulations on your new baby and welcome to the forum!

I highly recommend the ABA helpline for tailored advice (1800 686 268) from a trained ABA counsellor - they're available 24/7 and could help you work through the frothy poo.

One thing that occurred to me as a mum when reading your post was that maybe your baby is tired after a feed? My two would often fall asleep when feeding. My eldest could be transferred to upright but my second couldn't!

Here are some useful articles on poo and lactose overload:

Keep us posted on how you go :) Some others may be along if you have more questions.

Sorry I got caught up so hadn't actually finished....

Jenbt85 has given you lots of information that I was planning on providing too so I second her suggestion of contacting an ABA Counsellor via the Helpline too. They are open 24/7 ;)

Good luck!
