3wk old seems upset during feeds

Post by Asha2017 » Wed Jan 25, 2017 2:37 pm

Hi all...my 3wk old daughter latches on well and sometimes about 2 min into the feed she will have a little cry as if her heart has been broken. Its very upsetting to hear the disappointment in her voice. She doesnt pull off. She continues to feed. Then maybe another 3 to 5 mins she will tug and pull my nipple arching her back while crunching her legs up.
Are these 2 things related?
Not sure what it could be.

Hi Asha and welcome to the forum! Congrats on the birth of your baby.

There can be lots of reasons why babies cry and fuss at the breast... the flow of breastmilk is not to their liking (too fast or too slow), they're trying to trigger another letdown, low supply, oversupply / lactose overload, they're uncomfortable (too hot, too cold, dirty nappy, incorrect position while feeding), reflux, food allergy or intolerance.

Have you tried calling the helpline? A counsellor will be able to go through everything in detail with you and help you work out what's going on. Let us know how you go.
