Breastmilk v honey

Hi everyone i know that you dont give babies honey and i have read that honey cannot come through the breast milk is this true i want to be a 100% sure before eating anything with honey associated with it

Hi there, the issue with honey prior to 12 mths is that there is a possibility of infection with the bacteria that cause botulism. I think there was a case in the US in the 1970s that was linked to honey consumption from memory.
I don't believe there is a risk of it passing through breast milk, but I'm not qualified to give medical advice. .

As Ducks said, the risk associated with giving a baby honey before 12 months is botulism. This risk only applies if the baby eats honey. There is no risk associated with you eating it. Your milk will be perfectly safe. Enjoy your honey!
