another poo question

Post by tinyt » Tue May 03, 2011 5:30 pm

Bubz is 10wks old and in the last week he has been pooing alot more. He has between 6-8 feeds daily (breastmilk only) and sometimes pooing up to 6 times a day. They seem normal, mustard yellow colour. We just got back from NZ and we thinking he has tummy bug mayby, or is that amount of poos normal??

totally normal. Unless it smells foul (like adult diarrhoea) it's nothing to worry about. It is a good sign ... the more that goes in, the more that comes out. That said, 6-8 feeds in 24 hours is a little on the low side. Most exclusively breastfed babies feed more like 10-14 or more times in 24 hours so don't be surprised if he suddenly seems to want to feed more often.

DS1 would pooed just about every feed until he started solids at 6 months.
DS2 pooed once every 4 - 8 days, and started pooing every day when he started solids.

There are lots of variation to normal!
