prepping white sauce ahead?

Post by Esther » Mon May 15, 2017 1:53 pm

Hello,

Trying to prepare as much as possible for DS' birthday dinner of lasagna tomorrow night. (9yo, by the way, and DD2 is 5 today :-D )

Can I make the white sauce today and leave in fridge? I'll have time to put it together and cook it tomorrow night, although if I could at least put it together tonight too, that would be great.

Thoughts?

I didn't respond to your text. Sorry! I don't think it would as nice. Might get a thick skin? You might neex to add water to reheat??? I'm guessing ...

Yep - I do it all the time. It will thicken a little on standing so you could make it a bit thinner, or add a little milk and re-whisk. To stop a skin forming, put a piece of plastic wrap on the surface while it cools. I used to make it in bulk and freeze it - now I have a magic white sauce stirring machine ;)
It's OK Pluto, I'm not a planet either
