Binding back of neckline with hood

Post by JMc » Wed Jul 27, 2016 5:29 am

Hello!

We are about to have a proper holiday to Hawaii!! I am so excited! And so I'm going wild seeing beach towels with hoods. I've cut a hole in the middle of a towel and attached the hood (made from a hand towel). I've cut a slit in the front so head fit through and am planning on binding the slit and then straight up and around the hood. That bit I know what I'm doing.

But! The back of the neck inside the towel now looks so scrappy. I know I can just zigzag the seam (which is what I was planning on doing), but I think it would be so much nicer if I put some binding on it. But I cannot find a video (my usual sewing teacher) to tell me how to do it! It's a curved hole, but it's a flat seam. I won't be binding an edge like I normally do. I think I can imagine how to do it, but wondered if anyone has experience (shirt sewing??) and could tell me what you do?

I've done it. Single fold, not double gold binding.
