Pork spare ribs. Advice please.

Post by suzie » Mon Apr 18, 2016 12:40 pm

Has anyone cooked pork spare ribs? I never have.

Am I supposed to cut off the rind before baking in oven?

Also, I bought them at the butchers on Sat, today is Monday, and they have a slight odour. Not really bad, just oh-oh I hope it's OK. Do you think they're OK to use?

Oh well, when I checked them in the afternoon, the smell was a bit more pronounced, so decided to cook something else. Will chuck them out, unfortunately, I don't like wasting food.

I know it's a bit late, but I find pork a bit smelly at the best of times. Delicious, but smelly.

I cooked spare ribs for the first time recently, and from my experience, I'd suggest low and slow - mine were tough and chewy. And lots of sauce - spicy, sweet, a little bit sour, to cut through the fat. No need to remove rind - it's the best bit

Thanks for your reply Bailey's Mum.

I've cooked pork spare ribs a couple of times since then, and they are absolutely scrumptious.

I'll be doing them again this week. I've been looking up different recipes on the net.

And they're super easy. Into the oven, with a sauce, and that's it. You get a tasty dinner. Couldn't be easier.
