Hi

Post by ClOuD_NiNe » Mon Oct 13, 2014 8:10 am

Tentatively saying hi in this section of the forum. DH and I decided on holiday that we'll try for #3!

Not quite sure how this will work out, I've put A LOT of thought into it over the past few months. I think I would regret not trying. But... it's complicated :?

DD breastfeeds a lot and as it turns out breastfeeding is a super duper contraceptive for me. I haven't had any sign of cycles returning at all. I had to wean DS completely to conceive DD, but he was only 10 months and I'd hoped that if I left it a bit longer this time my cycles would return naturally. No such luck :(

So my first plan is to night wean, which I want to do anyway regardless of whether we TTC or not, as DD feeds every 2-3 hours most nights and I feel as if I've had enough. I think we'll start this coming weekend. I'm hoping that night weaning will kick start things so I don't have to wean her completely this time. She loves her mimi and I would feel awful having to wean her before she's ready. There's also that thought in the back of my mind that what if I weaned her and then couldn't get pregnant?! I'll be 37 in February so heading towards the end of the spectrum where pregnancy may not be that easy to achieve anymore.

Anyway those are my thoughts right now, thanks for listening! :D

Good luck!
DD1 was a frequent feeder and I had no sign of my period until 4 weeks after she started giving me 4 hour stretches of sleep in the night. She was 18 months old when my first PP AF showed up.

Good luck!

I had to night wean both of mine, but not totally wean to get pregnant. Dd was little and once pregnant I upped her feeds again (but not over night). Ds was big and by 10 weeks pregnant I was ready to wean him completely! But he was ready too.

Good luck. DS3 was 21 months before my cycle returned. The other two were a bit younger. I didn't night wean but they did cut down a little bit on the feeds at night.

Good luck and next time you are in Perth, come and rub my belly. I had to completely wean to get pregnant with DS2 but with this bub all I had to do was night wean.

And, yes, this is totally a valid fertility treatment.

Update: DD has been night weaned for 2 months and still no sign of AF. My charting temps show I am definitely not ovulating. Booooo!

I'm taking a herbal supplement recommended by my naturopath that contains vitex/chaste tree. Nada.

Now considering dropping DD's feeds down to 1 or 2 a day, just posted in the weaning section about this. Feeling a bit deflated :(

Hugs. TTC can be so consuming and affect emotions so much. Hope things happen soon. I had to drop feeds both times to get pregnant. It can be so hard to reconcile the desire for the new baby and the desire to 'do right' by the baby you already have! Hope you come to peace with whatever decision you make and that the herbal suppliments start working soon.

Hugs. Is hard!

Have you considered medication? I did clomid cause I figured 1 week of reduced feeds is far less stressful than weaning. I've had af for years but no ovulation.

Got me pregnant the first time we got the timing right.

Bless you Cloudy! Must be quite stressful for you!

My periods returned when DS was 9months and i'm sure I've been ovulating pretty much since then too (I get specific pain when I ovulate!)

I hope you can find some peace in your journey !
