this months game plan

I'm going to see a new gp for advise on the irregular and non-ovulation periods

I'm going to reduce feeds as much as I can manage. Today I've only fed ds twice! Usually he would have had five by now. I'm trying to night wean again. At the moment we're both going to bed at 8, which gives me a6 hour stretch of sleep, yay. He can have a feed then. But I'm going to get up at 4, which gives me 8 hours of sleep and hopefully he'll get used to it and does 2 hot stretches until 7. 30. This morning he stayed attached from four until seven, gah. Claiming it's his right because the alarm light was on. Tomorrow I won't be lazy and just get up.

I've got opks and a new battery for my thermometer, so hopefully I can see if I actually ovulated or not. It was too hard this cycle, with sperm changing the mucus. I never tracked until half a year ago, so it's a bit new.

Then when I think I'm about to ovulate, I'm meeting Mr s in the city. No idea where it will happen!! This is really weirding me out as it will probably be the public toilets on the station. How's that for a story to tell your child!!! Not that I really consider telling my future teenagers about that detail

I've bought 10 sensitive hpts online, so I should be a bit less crazy! The one I used last cycle didn't state how sensitive they were, which made me think false negatives. These one are 10mu!! Hopefully I'll have some to give away next month.

Anything else I should think of??

I'm expecting to ovulate on the 11th of July, the day I separated from x a year ago. If things work out, end of first trimester would be my birthday, second trimester would be ds his birth day and edd would be April fools day. Can't get much better than that, right?

It is worthwhile getting your cycles on track before trying? Or perhaps waiting to see if things are regular and obvious once DS weans? I am just wondering that the small window of opportunity might be very stressful if you are not sure of the exact time.

Hopefully a new GP can give you some better clarity as to what is going on so you can maximise your opportunity.

Maybe Feebes can shed some light on how it worked for her?

I don't want to wean him completely, just night wean and as much as possible during the day. Maybe down to four feeds?

Some months I ovulate and some I don't, I have no idea why! When I do, I know thanks to bucket loads of egg white mucus. Prolactin is at a normal level, so it shouldn't be inhibiting. Other hormones were normal too

Sorry, just re-read this. I had posted quickly earlier without thinking. This is completely none of my business and I shouldn't have asked. My apologies, Fellare.

It sounds like you have everything covered!! I couldn't think of anything further. Best of luck.

Also try to pitch your expectations that it will prob take at least 4 months (or 4 ovulations). If it happens sooner than that, it's a bonus.

I read a fascinating article a few years ago saying that women took longer to get pregnant with 'unfamiliar' sperm. They were mostly talking about couples who had been using condoms before ttc - because the vagina wasn't familiar with the sperm it was hostile and it took more months to get pregnant (on average) than women who were using the pill, iud or similar. It even suggested using a diaphragm rather than condoms for a few months before ttc to allow the vagina time to adjust and become more welcoming.

Sorry I cannot remember where I read it so can't post a link!

Saw a different gp who send me to a bulk billing fertility specialist for further investigation. Might be put on clomid if things really don't work.

According to her scales I'm 58kg now, which means I've put 4kg on in 4 months. I suspect her scales are off, but I know I've put on weight, yay. That should help and who knows, I might fit into my clothes again. I want to be back to 60.

I'm glad you're griping to see someone, those cycles sound a bit concerning. Hope the FS has some advice.

Me too. This bulk bills, do it wouldn't be $200 like the first one  and I'm going for a different treatment since I've got a donor already.

Bit wary of the medication with increased risk of twins and autism as I'm higher risk for both already. But will discuss that. May just do monitoring first and seeing if near weaning helps. I've also got polycystic ovaries, so there is a bit against me ATM.

this month is bust. Didn't think I'd ovulate and then it took me by surprise. Guess what, on the predicted day >.<

I went to see a fertility specialist and he prescribed clomid and a trigger shot if I wanted to. We'll do a scan on day 14 (I think, I got it written down), to make sure there is only one follicle as clomid increases the risk of multiples and I don't want that. Obviously, maternal twins would still be a risk, but clomid has no impact on that.
He also gave me a long list of blood test, to rule in/out PCOS and associated issues (insulin), the normal pre pregnancy tests (why didn't my gp order them???? I've been ttc since December and he knows everything) and vitamin levels (while we're there, might as well). Got to be fasting test, so no idea when I'll do it.

if next month doesn't work, I'm going to wait until December. I just don't want a winter baby. reading about the horrors of organising a birthday party in winter cemented that idea! I reckon I can deal with a September child. I'm a September child and the weather is usually doable. We'll see. My luck will give me a July baby through magical interference. Cause I'm always lucky like that

In the mean time I'm working hard to get over the PTSD. It's slowly getting better and I'm now at the stage I can actually do yoga (last year seeing a sign triggered a panic attack), I get flashbacks during yoga, but it's manageable. I can read birth stories and even contacted midwives! hopefully I can go to their meetings next month. Had planned on this month, but the chickenpox prevented it. Still having multiple flashbacks a day  and occasional night mares, but I'm managing to get on with life anyway.

oh, the other thing I'm thinking about is going back to work and make sure I get maternity leave. Does anyone know if you get that on top of parenting payment?? It's about the same amount and I'm not going to fuss over getting the right number of hours if one just replaces the other. If it's $600 extra, I'll fuss.

I think you can either get mat leave or the baby bonus. The baby bonus is quite reduced for subsequent babies though.

Is the FS doing the tests because your cycles are irregular? How does that work with breastfeeding if you don't mind me asking? When TTC DS2 I was considering seeing a FS but the verdict was that they wouldn't help until weaning.

Good to see you are getting your pstd under control.
