Not ovulating after a d&c??

Post by Hippie » Wed Nov 13, 2013 4:14 pm

Has anyone had problems with ovulating after a d & c? I've had one period since the d & c in September and I'm sure I didn't ovulate between the d & c and my period and I'm now on day 20 and no sign of ovulation (lots of opk's and checking cm). And I currently feel like I normally do a couple of days before my period arrives :(
So what do I do if I'm not ovulating???

I found that it took my body a while to get back into the swing of things after a D&C. I think I got AF about 6 weeks later but didn't get pregnant until 4 months later. But that D&C was also an ectopic pregnancy/tube removal too. If you're concerned definitely speak to a HP!

While I know this doesn't happen to everyone, I also think it took a long time for my body to adjust post miscarriage plus d&c. Definitely talk to your HP. I did find that acupuncture seemed to help reset things as well.

:smt045 Yep, I found that too. Also traditional chinese medicine helped a lot too.

lots of hugs hun. as if it isn't hard enough to lose the baby you were growing, now to have issues with ovulating isn't nice at all.

I haven't had a D&C, so don't have this experience at all.
I had spotting early in my last pregnancy and then had the ultrasound that showed the baby wasn't growing and hadn't implanted well. It took from week 7 when we found out, til another 5 or 6 weeks later, to FINALLY have a period and lose everything. If I hadn't been breastfeeding and felt my milk coming back, I wouldn't have insisted on a scan and I wouldn't have known until the 12-13 week ultrasound that it had actually stopped growing at 5 weeks. crazy!!

Anyway, it took my body a while to sort itself out after wards and I think my next period was 5 weeks later rather than 4, so I probably O'd later than usual.

I hope your body settles back into a nice cycle and you're able to start enjoying the making of a new baby xx

Hi, Ive been trying ttc for 14 months now. Just had blood tests to reveal Im not ovulating :( having cycles anywhere between 33 and 60 days, also still have breastmilk when i squeeze even though i stopped feeding 12 months ago and i also have a history of pcos - blood tests came up with relatively normal hormone levels, no pcos and no prolactinoma though. Ive started seeing a chiropractor/reflexoligist, have an appointment with a chinese accupuncurist upcoming and have been referred to a specialist but cant get in until the end of Dec :( Happy to hear any other ways to assist with ovulating also :)

Thanks for the replies, I was seeing a wonderful Chinese Medicine guy when we were ttc DS2 so that is on my to do list. I was hoping to conceive without any help (even though acupuncture and Chinese herbs are not intrusive or anything). I think I might get a blood test first to rule anything out and go from there.

that's good. it feels better to be doing something constructive I imagine, but no doubt still frustrating.

I'm good. CD14 today, ov'd yesty, so currently 1DPO!! lost of fun in the last week. If those 300 gazillion sperm don't get to a little egg and make a baby, somethings not right!!

now patiently waiting out the TWW!!

Strangely... I usually have ov pain for 2-3 hours maximum and always on the morning of day 13. So day 13 yesty it was a bit later and started about 3pm just as I was getting to work and I was really uncomfortable for the whole shift, so a full 8 hours! that's the longest I've had pain for during ovulation. Then today I had a tiny spot of blood when I wiped after a wee... strange.
