ttc since Aug 2012 :(

Postby bectonks » Tue Oct 08, 2013 3:51 pm

We've been ttc for #4 for over 12 months now, each month i swear i have symptoms where i think im pregnant and then im not :(. With #1 i had been diagnosed with pcos and i took metformin for 1 month but got pregnant straight away. Also easily pregnant with #2 & #3 (was even breastfeeding #2 when falling pregnant with #3). My cycles are way out varying from anything from 32-60 days, so not really sure when i ovulate? Im not really wanting exploritory surgery or anything sort of thinking if its meant to be it will be but i am now getting impatient. Any hints/tips/ideas from anyone would be greatly appreciated please :). Just wondering if i book an appointment with a Dr but just wish it would hurry up & happen. Im 34 so getting older, maybe a little more stressed than normal? Also I stopped breastfeeding Nov 2012 but I can still squeeze milk - is that normal, or could that have something to do with not getting pregnant?

Hugs, I can imagine the disappointment of not falling pregnant.
Have you considered going to a Dr or fertility specialist. I would get it investigated. In my non medical opinion 34 is not too old to fall pregnant especially after already having 3 other babies.
All the best.

I don't see any harm in seeing the doctor... even as a rule things out option, it might help with the wtf's

Not having to go to a Dr really for this before - do gp's know much about getting pregnant or do they just refer you to a specialist?

I would definately suggest charting your cycle if it's really irregular. When my ds was approaching 2 and I was still breastfeeding it was really stressful not knowing if I was pregnant, or my period was just late - with no period to miss you keep thinking you might be... Once I was charting my cycle I was ale to relax more cause I at least knew when I definately wasn't pregnant.

do you know when you ovulate? 4 months is still pretty short time, I think 6 months is average for women to fall pregnant

maybe chat to a gp, perhaps they can do blood tests to see if something is up. Bit less invasive.

Good luck with your Drs appointment. Some people I know have had success with a naturopath or Chinese medicine for conceiving.

A friend of mine had no end of trouble TTC, and her cycles were all over the place also, the doctors wouldn't do a whole lot because she was still young (26) so they tend to let you struggle on a little longer.. She was told though that her eggs will start to deteriorate by 36 and she was also too skinny, not carrying enough body fat so she should stop running..

Anyway all that being said she did her own research and came across a couple of supplements that could help her, one was to increase CM and she thought she really wasn't producing enough and another that regulated her periods, she was pregnant the next month and lost it :( but kept up the supplements and was pregnant next cycle as well, her daughter is now 18 months.. I can PM you the supplements if you like so you can do your own research and see if it fits at all...

Big hugs too it would be soooo hard.. I thought I was pregnant last month and was only a week late, I couldn't imagine going 60 days !@~@~!group hug

Went to the dr's & I've just had a general blood test but also for PCOS (since i had it 9 years ago) and also for something called Prolactinoma (becuase I still produce milk even though i stopped breastfeeding last november) - so will wait & see

Good news no prolactinoma, no pcos & my hormones look relatively normal :). Today I had another blood test to see if Im actually ovulating. So I guess just one step @ a time, so impatient though
