Dad at school

Post by jessles » Thu May 22, 2014 4:18 pm

Found out this afternoon that one of the Dads at school died on Tuesday from cancer. He had melanoma a couple of years ago but it resurfaced in other places mid-way through last term. They thought it was clear but it spread quickly and he obviously deteriorated very quickly too. His eldest will be 7 in a couple of months and is in the same year as my DD1 (they haven't been in the same class, but I've been on friendly terms with the mum). His other child is 5. He's about the same as me (maybe a year or two younger).
I think it's come as a bit of a shock to all of us, even though he was fighting cancer.
I'm guessing nothing has been said at school because DD1 hasn't said anything.
I know that the mum has a lot of support around her at the moment, which is good for her, but I can't help thinking of her and all the decisions she will now have to make. It does make me wonder if it was my hubby, how would we cope practically.

That's so sad. I often think about that scenario, it would just devastate me not to have my husband. He's my best friend. When I see really elderly couples I hope we have that luck. That poor lady, I hope she's going ok. Big hugs.
