happy birthday Oma.

Post by Andypandy » Sat Jul 06, 2013 10:15 am

My Oma would have been 91 today. She was simply magnificent. She was widowed in her 30s shortly after coming to Australia with 2 small children. She worked 2 jobs to provide for her kids and was unbelievably talented in the arts and crafts. She sewed beautifully, could draft patterns, knit, crochet, spin yarn and also make silver jewellery. She was also the most magnificent baker of breads and tortes and a brilliant gardener. I wish I had a fraction of her talent.

She was also a wonderful grandmother and often took us camping as kids.

In her honour today I am going to do some knitting and bake some bread.

I miss you Oma.

Happy birthday AndyPandy's Oma :) I am sure she would be proud of the way that you are honouring her!

Perhaps you can sneak some meat into a vegetarian's soup too ;) I do have very fond memories of being fattened up by her :)

What a lovely way to celebrate your Oma Andy - she sounds like a wonderful woman.
