Yield way down

Postby Penguin » Sun Mar 15, 2015 10:52 pm

After pumping insane amounts of prenatal colostrum (15-20mL), then insane amounts of milk (my best in the last few weeks was 350mL) I seem to be dropping off. For about a fortnight I've been stopping when i filled a 250mL bottle, but I haven't done that the three nights. Friday was 150ml, last night 225ml and I've made slow progress to 125mL now and slowing fast.

I know these are still very good numbers for one pump a day in the evening, but that's quite a dramatic drop off!

Pretty normal really. When bub is born the breasts don't really know how many kids, but now, your breasts are settling down, so oversupply is a thing of the past :) You could probably boost it a bit, but you would need to express more often.

Are you expressing with anything in mind? Eg if you need more can you try another session.

I'm pumping once every night. Small freezer stash for me and donor milk. So no amount I HAVE to reach.
