Expressing colostrum during labour.

Post by GillianGehrke » Sat Mar 16, 2013 9:30 am

Due to complications I will have to express colostrum during labour for bub. Does anyone know what equipment I will need?

I found it easiest to hand express and suck it up with a syringe.

I've been expressing prenatal colostrum. I found it easiest to hand express into a small glass (like a shot glass) and then suck it up into a syringe and store that in a plastic bag. Are you able to express some before labour? I can't imagine being in the right frame of mind to express during labour. If you do express beforehand you can just store it in the freezer until the big day.
