When to start expressing?

Post by Jenbt85 » Sat Jul 18, 2015 1:42 am

My LC suggested waiting six to eight weeks before adding expressing into the mix but I'm no longer engorged and am wondering if I could start now? I'm keen to build up a stash so that I have a little bit of freedom / bub can be topped up so I can sleep a bit longer during the day if DH has her. If I do start now, would I express for 10-15 minutes on both sides after every feed or would I space that out to three hourly if it had been less time than that between feeds? I wouldn't introduce a bottle before 6-8 weeks old (she's 4 weeks old on Tues / a calendar month on Thurs - can you believe it?!?!).
DS - bf 18.5 months (565 days)!
DD - breastfeeding

I'd add in one pump once a day at a consistent time . With R i did mornings (better yield) but with C morning were too nuts so I do night time (between their bedtime and mine)
