Where does milk come from?

Post by FeeBee » Tue Oct 07, 2014 7:36 pm

Tonight at story time before bed:

DS2 (2yrs): "Mummy milk! Muuuummmy miiilk"
DH (old enough to know better): "Where does mummy milk come from DS2?"
DS1 (4yrs): "Silly ... it comes from her breast-feeders!"

I purposely used "mummy milk" as the preferred term over "booby" or some variation on the exact source of the milk, as it seemed preferable to me were it to be screamed aloud in public. Do I now need to correct DS1 on his anatomy terminology?

 We called breast milk "mummy milk" when DS1 was little, for much the same reasons as you (accurate without being likely to offend). He called breasts "mummymilks" for a long time.

Hmm, I call it "boobie juice". Might have to rethink that if i plan to breastfeed into the verbal stage........

We call it 'milky', and now that she gets cow milk we call that 'milk.' But we only feed once now so there's no confusion - if I offer 'milk' downstairs in the high chair it's pretty clear I don't mean 'milky' (which happens upstairs in the cosy chair). Would probably need a more distinct term if we were still demand feeding.
