There are 68 Baby Friendly accredited hospitals across Australia. This indicates that a low proportion of maternity facilities have adopted the BFHI considering the initiative was implemented over two decades ago.
We aim to improve knowledge about current uptake and implementation of the BFHI in Australia. Over the next few months we will undertake a survey involving understanding perceptions of those involved in the care of mothers and babies. For this, we need your help. Please click on this link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YDD35FM to access our survey and tell us what you believe is happening in relation to the uptake and implementation of the BFHI in Australia. The survey should only take 10-15 minutes to complete and has been approved by the University of the Sunshine Coast Human Research Ethics Committee (Approval Number S/15/806) and the Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA Research Approval Number 2017-1).
This survey will be open from (27/06/2017) until (22/11/2017). The more participants that we can connect with, the better the information we will have, so please feel free to forward this link to your colleagues and any interested parties! This includes registered nurses, registered midwives, lactation consultants, breastfeeding counsellors, general practitioners, nutritionists, dietitians, and complementary therapists who are involved in the care of mothers and babies.
The survey will help us better understand the issues relating to the uptake and implementation of the BFHI in Australia. This information can be used to improve the uptake and implementation of the BFHI at national and local levels.
If you have a question about the survey, send us an email at email@example.com
Many thanks, Anahita Esbati, RM, MMid, PhD candidate at the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC).
