Yes this can be part of it but if you are really really nice and have the right tact and rebuttal you can usually sway them. Then there is always the pass on to your supervisor option! I actually had more grumps on saturday. I really love dealing with the public I think my fellow workers thought I was a bit strange because I loved every second right up till finishing our count at 10:30pm. I am not a very political person but I got a certain amount of satisfaction seeing my squiggles in the ballot sheet corners. I was equally disappointed seeing my squiggles on the informal papers. Had same feeling doing the census. Kind of nice being a small part of the bigger picture of the country.

I need to read more carefully - I thought they had added a question about shoe storage to the census. The government does not need to know that my shoes are scattered all over the house, rarely in pairs

Quite the opposite! This will be my second and it will be done very different than the past but last time I got around $3000 for what I felt was very little work. If you are efficient with your work and have great people skills and are friendly it can be fun and easy.
I was a census collector 14 years ago and I thought that the pay was good, would probably be better with time passing.

I actually enjoyed it, XDP wasn't very helpful/supportive mind you and I was 3-5 months pregnant at the time.

OMG if I hear "I'm huuunnnngyýyyy" followed immediately by this horrible drone of a windge. Usually coupled with hanging off me and some kind of impatient jumping or jiggling or foot stamp. Then more pleads of being hungry get me food now. I think I may just run away! How much can 2 kids eat/break onto the floor? 90% of my day is either preparing food or cleaning it up

Coming down from my anxiety/panic attack. So $#!+ knowing you have no one to rely on in a sticky situation. My car is in for a service, DH does school pick up but chose today to get his forklift bogged at work right on knock off time. Work wanted him to get it out immediately so I got kids to wait at office but he was taking longer than expected. School refused to put girls in afterschool care so my only option was to put then in a taxi. On hold to taxi I nearly vomited. Called DH and told him to tell work he will be gone 30 min tops to get girls. So annoyed with the whole situation and school not being very sympathetic it's not like it's an everyday occourance. I was about to strap the toddler to my back and put 3y.o in the stroller and walk the 1hr some of it on unpathed road.

Desperately hoping that the couple of spots on DD tonight are not in fact chicken pox. It is exactly 2 weeks to the days since DS came down with chicken pox. Incubation period for chicken pox is 2 weeks. I'm fooling myself thinking there is a chance its not :?

Arrrhh!!! I thought it was be obvious this morning one way or the other but its not! If her brother hadn't just recovered from chicken pox I wouldn't have thought that this is what these spots are. But because we have had it in the family so recently I think I'm going to have to keep her home just in case. She is not at all happy about this idea and neither am I to be honest- I need to go shopping for Little Magoo's birthday tomorrow. But I can't risk spread chicken pox through the entire kindergarten :(

I just wish it was really obviously CP (or better still no spots at all) :-(

Unfortunately the pay is terrible this time for what we have to do.
