Struggle street with dh's hours cut to 1 day a week from 3. It's a massive loss of pay per week for our family and with rent and preschool fees increased!

Hugs Lu, that's awful. Can you get more assistance from centrelink, even if it's short term?

Oh no :( That's really stressful. Like Esther said, can you get extra assistance in the interim?

Not really at this stage...we have a plan for when we get back from our overseas trip (which has been booked for almost a year!) ... I am just really struggling and am so stressed about it all...I am getting daily headaches from the stress...I feel a bit annoyed too as the casual full time person hasn't even been cut at all....I just don't think it's fair that DH who was working 3 days and having to travel over 90mins each way has his cut to 1 day.....this week DH is only working 1 day and then he is expected to work 1.5days next week which I am not sure how he will do when we wont have the money for fuel for him to go plus food for the week etc.

Thank you
I have put a phone Block on but it still allows a voice message. I think the time has past for that though. It will just be postal now and I'll just send it back. I can no longer do this arms length parenting thing where I am last. The only time he shows any emotion or enthusiasm in our relationship is when I am doing something wrong and he brings out the worst in me. Our relationship is not healthy and never will be and I need to stop thinking that it will get better. He is a narcissist that will not change. I know I have done the right thing as every other conflict I have had with others I have been racked with guilt and upset and cried till it was resolved. This time I have been more fearful of the anger from him but I don't know why because every time I told him to not contact me again he stopped just like that until he needed something. We have no mutual reason to stay in contact now except for if he wants a relationship with us. Clearly he doesn't. That's fine its his choice. I actually feel free

Oh how stressful. Could you speak to preschool about fees and some kind of relief.

There is no relief...even when the kids are sick or on our holiday away from preschool..they still need to be paid.....

It's just ridiculous as we are constantly waiting for DH to be paid....we are lucky he gets paid on the Monday (it usually comes in past 4pm...which makes doing our weekly shop difficult) when DH was working on a Monday and the boss wasn't...he was always paid by 11am on the Monday.

How frustrating for you. I know at our stand alone community preschool that if a family was having a time of hardship they could work out a payment plan or something. Hopefully things look up for you soon. I don't know what hubby does but is there some kind of temp work he could do? I just worked election day and hubby and I are about to embark on the census. I really hope you get some luck soon

Does the census one pay? I thought it was just voluntary?

We have a plan for when we get back from our trip.....but it's just between now and then that's going to be stressful!

I doubt it will be bucket loads, but yes to payment for census.

Mum was telling me that those traffic management people earn a good hourly rate (down here $48/hr after six months) and it's only a five day course if that helps.

Quite the opposite! This will be my second and it will be done very different than the past but last time I got around $3000 for what I felt was very little work. If you are efficient with your work and have great people skills and are friendly it can be fun and easy.

DH is looking into doing some courses through the job provider people so he will be able to work on the highway upgrade plus other things with it but it's a 2 week course and then a 12 week course...there's no point him doing it when we go away in 3 weeks

I have heard this too. Although I have heard some stories about having to deal with grumpy people who don't want to be censussed, but on the whole I think it evens out.
