Running a bit late this year!

Post by Mummy woo! » Thu Nov 24, 2016 6:40 pm

Just ordered our Christmas cards (I have photo cards printed every year). They will be delivered about 6 December - so I will have to get my skates on to get them posted.

Presents also not quite as far along as I usually like to be. How is everyone else going?

Well, each year I set myself a goal of having the bulk of the Christmas Shopping done by 1st December - well there are 7 days to go .....

I have, however, written cards and prepared small gifts for my 23 Girl Guides - so at least that's something!

Oh you are a lovely Guide Leader!

I used to have the 1 December goal but this year I have just not had time to think about it. I'll try to get started this weekend - I usually mail order everything anyway. I haven't even put the fruit on to soak for the fruitcakes.

Christmas comes but once a decade?????

Right????

Sort of not too bad....still a bit to do and need to start cooking!

BTW, if anyone can explain why MIL has posted us a card and presents when she's meant to be staying with us for Xmas, I'm all ears....

So she doesn't have to carry them in her luggage? My grandma would do that if she didn't just pass-agg my mum into doing it for her. And I send her a card and then she comes to see me

I had a little spin out yesterday...I couldn't find a car park, the shops were teeming and full of Christmas stuff and THEN I realised that December is next week. We've not done a thing. Eek!

Exactly one month to go, and I haven't even started. Problem coming here I'm sure. And we've no idea what will be happening on the day, as it is the first year MIL is in care.

Mostly finished here......just got stocking presents to go.

That's the thing with needing to send stuff overseas...have to get in early otherwise they don't arrive in time.

You could address the envelopes in advance.

I am in denial. So watch for last second drama and woe.

I've bought almost all of the presents. I'll do cards in about a week's time with the kids to give to classmates and teachers. I won't do any cooking or baking until the kids finish school (a week before Christmas). I'm not hosting Christmas this year so we're having a very low-key Christmas and I plan on only making food the kids will like and want. I want this year to be fun.

I think I will be different every year, yet Dad and his wife always end up with last minute online gifts.

I've got a list, which is more than I usually have this time of year. Going to attempt the shopping in the next few weeks - leaving the house, woo!
