He sounds like my FIL who is constantly making comments that are so out there - race, gender, you name it he has a comment. He honestly has no idea that he is offensive. But my FIL is not an 'educated' man dealing with the public and expecting to be paid. So hopefully the fall out is minimal from FIL - we are constantly trying to explain to him about being polite in the modern world.
However, sounds like this Dr needs to have some training with an expert in etiquette at the very least.

Can I suggest if you do go on another wait list especially if public that you regularly check the status of the second referral. Public systems do not like people being on 2 or more lists and can automatically deny you being accepted. We had a very terse dr look at DD3s eyes at the hospital and say they would not operate on both they don't do it. As time between appointments went on her second eye has worsened and definitely needs cutting. Having being told the hospital we were with would not do 2 eyes and private opthamoligist was going to be upward of $7000 we put our name down for only other public option in state. I called up 3 months later to find out status of appointment to be told you are being seen by other hospital you can now only pursue surgery there.

Thankfully original hospital will do both eyes as they deem it necessary. The Dr we had on day was terse and failed to mention at that time they did not see it necessary which is why they said they only would do one.

This is across the board with all public wait lists I however have regularly put my name on several for same service and never been denied.

Good luck. He sounds interesting however frustrating lol
