DS diagnosed with congenital heart disease

Post by pseudo » Fri Jan 06, 2017 8:36 pm

Hi everyone

I've stopped using Facebook because I find that of 300 friend only a few even really notice things so I've joined support forums instead! My beautiful 4 year old boy was diagnosed with congenital heart disease today after an unusual murmur was picked up by a doctor at hospital. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think a big, strong, healthy boy could have heart disease. He has a bicuspid aortic valve. I've been in a washing machine lately. In less thN a year my sister got breast cancer, my DP got Parkinson's, my cousin's 37 year old husband got stage 4 oesophageal cancer and my baby got heart disease. I give up!

Thanks girls. He hopefully won't need surgery until he's an adult. I shouldn't have googled stuff though because of course you find the bad stuff.

What a shock for you Pseudo.

News like this is really difficult - I know there are some really good support groups of parents who will understand what you are feeling and what you are worried about, so it's good you've found some. JennyD is right - don't be googling....nothing good ever came of it.

I'm so sorry to hear the news. It sounds like a really rough year for you. That's a lot for anyone to deal with. Be gentle on yourself. I hope you have good support around you.

Sorry to hear this pseudo xx

It sounds like you've had a crappy year, hoping the support forums are a better source of positive information than google (which is always, always terrible)

Thanks everyone. I'm very distressed. Aortic aneurysms go hand in hand with this defect. DS2 and me are getting tested tomorrow to see if we have it too. I feel like I'm going to collapse I'm so distressed.
