establishing breastfeeding at 8 months old?

Post by sunshinedays » Tue Feb 14, 2012 9:00 am

ok, i think this is where i need to be :)

DD was born with cleft lip and palate, lip and hard palate has been repaired, soft palate will be repaired when she is 12 months old. She is eight months next week. I have been pumping for her from day one and she has only ever had my breastmilk.

i want to get her on the breat. not even sure if she has enough intact palate to do so yet or if i have to wait for the next op. i have no idea how to go about getting her on the breast - she doesnm't know what it is lol. i know it can be done.... looking to hear from people who have done it, and keen to get recommendations for an LC who has experience in this area.

thanks for reading!

No advice from me, but just wanted to wish you luck and say congrats on your journey so far! Your bub is very lucky to have such a dedicated mama. All the best :D

Welcome baby Alice!

It's wonderful and exciting to have got where you are. But now lots more unknowns. I'm sure someone on here can help (clearly not me) but maybe you need to post in "special breastfeeding situations"?
