evenings

Post by fellare » Thu Oct 04, 2012 10:36 pm

every time I go out in the evening and leave ds with dh, it ends up in tears until I get home. I'm so sick of it!

how do I get DS to not go nutters over me being away in the evening? They are great together during the day. I can't even leave for an hour.

Honestly, the only thing that worked for us was time - at around 12-14 months DD became much happier to be at home at night with just DP. Until then, it was a roulette game - will she be okay, or will she completely lose it?

I guess all babies are different, but that's been our experience.

I was worried about that. I'm already away during the day, he misses me :(

DD goes nuts if I leave her with DH, but she is much better if we both go our and she is with Nanna/ aunty/ my friend. I don't know why but she's good as gold for them, screams for hours until she makes herself vomit if just I go out. Have you tried both of you going out? Hugs

We're in the same boat here re no family, I know DS misses me when I go out at night, so I tend to try to time my outings for when I'm reasonably sure he'll sleep through (till recently it was about 10pm max) but he's better now. We changed things a bit when I got pregnant and couldn't stand feeding at 10pm anymore (he was 22 months at this point  ) so DH would do the wakeups prior to midnight, and he'd walk into our room after that and snuggle with us. So now, I can go out till midnight (although I get pretty tired after about 9 these days  ).
You'll get there, it does take time, but if you work out his routine you may be able to get away for a small period of time each night without too many tears
