The Simpsons

Post by Kathryn » Thu Dec 01, 2005 2:52 pm

In last nights episode of The Simpsons at a concert for babies one mother passed out, her baby crawled away, and another baby crawled up and helped herself to breastmilk! Don't know what kind of social commentary it is on breastfeeding, but I thought it was hilarious.

thats funny

In some cultures it is common for family members to feed each others babies from the breast. Makes you thing whether you would allow your baby to feed from another mother or would you feed another child?

So funny you should say that. I was JUST- literally 1 minute ago- reading an email from a friend (and fellow ABA member) who is leaving her frequent feeding 9 month old for the first time since his birth for 3 hours. Her sister- also has a 9 month old- is looking after him and she said feel free to feed him if he is too distressed. I think a lot, perhaps most people are really grossed out by the idea, probably because it is so rare in our culture. Mind you there are people who are grossed out by breastfeeding in general. I am so interested in what peoples opinions are I am going to post this in the general section!
