Re: just very sad

Oh and a friend who is pregnant has been texting me "where did you get your ultrasound from?" "Was the guy nice?" "How many weeks were you?" Etc etc. I just ended up in bed crying and crying. Ultrasound talk is such a trigger for me, I'm just reminded of what I saw. A lifeless baby. I ended up aski...

SSRIs during pregnancy

This may not be news to everyone but it was news to me - use of SSRI antidepressents during pregnancy may double the risk of autism in children. Seems like a pretty big study too, of 145,000 children followed from conception over 10 years. Obviously consult with your GP and don't just listen to the ...

Re: Depo help

That sounds awful hon. If it's about stopping periods, did you consider an IUD? They also tend to stop your periods but a lot lower dose of the hormones.

Re: mental health vs physical health

Just wanted to chime in that I think it's great you're trying to think about what will work for you and your family. As others have said, it doesn't have to be about appearance, but better physical health means a longer, happier life. Other ideas of small changes (pick and choose what might work for...

Re: terrible mum

Big hugs! I find that sometimes I have to get back to basics and stop what I'm doing, kneel down to DD's level, get her full attention with eye contact before anything sinks in. With DD, at least, I find that when she's focussed on something than nothing I say cuts through unless I can actually secu...

Re: Favourite binge watches

Watching Inside Amy Shumer on DVD at the moment. So so so very hilarious.

If you like sci fi, Firefly is about the most feminist series I've ever seen and so much fun.

Re: Toilet training ... Thoughts?

I'm toying with the idea of getting a set of (washable) 'training pants'. I think she might be less upset by accidents if they aren't quite as messy, iykwim? Anyone used them, or gone straight to undies?

Re: Toilet training ... Thoughts?

We've made the potty available for months - after an intial bout of interest, I think the novelty wore off and now although she'll tell us she's going a wee or poo in her nappy, if we ask if she wants to use the toilet or potty she usually says no. So it's hard to tell if it's a 'not ready' thing, o...

Toilet training ... Thoughts?

Hi ladies been lurking mostly these days but I could use your thoughts. DD is now 26 months and we're hoping to potty train this summer. I've read the no-cry potty solution cover to cover more than once and by their quiz she seems physically ready. She knows all the steps involved, her language is r...

Re: 6 week old.. Feeding every hour!

Hi and welcome, I second calling the helpline, the ladies are so lovely. I just wanted to add that you mentioned feeling like you used to have too much milk and now you don't have enough ... for the first 6 weeks, your breasts are still working out how much your baby needs, and for some women that e...

If you can be bothered, it's worth chasing it up. Call the company and see if they'll play nice, if not, you could drop hints about consumer protection rights and the ACCC.

Re: Weaning at 18 months

Been lurking for a while but just wanted to pop in and say, I'm so happy for you! I remember your journey, so similar to my own, and I'm so glad you're still going at 18 months! That being said, I reckon it's up to you now. I was feeling ambivilent at 12 months and by 13 months DD decided for me; I ...

Re: The bulk buying annual m'ship warehouse....

I'm shameless. I either go with my SIL (she has to pay for the lot and I pay her back my half) or once I signed up, shopped, then refunded my membership. You can do that, but you're blacklisted for 12 months (or at least that was the rule last I checked, ymmv).
