Re: One of our own

Thank you Bailey's mum. I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn this morning that it was Fourandout and her child. I live in Adelaide and met her and her children on several occasions but hadn't seen her for a few years. I've never forgotten her either, for her kindness and her incredible sense o...

I've decided to have my breasts removed.

I thought I'd post here as it will soon be the end of an era! After almost 10 years of consecutive breastfeeding, I met with my breast surgeon this morning to discuss a profalactic bilateral mastectomy. I'm going to wean DS2 over the next 2 months, then wait 4 weeks before I can have a breast MRI (I...

ABA position on oral ties?

Speaking with some LC friends and my paediatric dentist friend, there's quite a bit of concern amongst many health professionals about the diagnosis and aggressive treatments of oral frenulums. Lots of horror stories of breast refusal, oral aversion and injury, with little to no evidence for the eff...

Oh gosh I haven't been on roll call for a few years. Loved it but found I spent far too much time there. Hope everyone is going ok.

Re: DS diagnosed with congenital heart disease

Thanks everyone. I'm very distressed. Aortic aneurysms go hand in hand with this defect. DS2 and me are getting tested tomorrow to see if we have it too. I feel like I'm going to collapse I'm so distressed.

Thanks girls. He hopefully won't need surgery until he's an adult. I shouldn't have googled stuff though because of course you find the bad stuff.

DS diagnosed with congenital heart disease

Hi everyone I've stopped using Facebook because I find that of 300 friend only a few even really notice things so I've joined support forums instead! My beautiful 4 year old boy was diagnosed with congenital heart disease today after an unusual murmur was picked up by a doctor at hospital. Never in ...

Time to wean

We've had some not so great news in our family lately and I've been confronted with a decision that hasn't been easy. DP's Parkinson's is progressing faster than we would like and he's having some symptoms that might indicate he has something worse than Patkinsons. Unfortunately it's a wait and see ...

Re: Keeping records of homework

We have the same issue with our recently turned 9 year old. It was causing so much stress and distress that I told the teacher I would write it in his diary, not him. She wasn't happy but we have enough problems getting the required homework done than to worry about recording it.

Just to add, a couple of DS's friends have the FM system in class and have found it very helpful. We implemented the suggestions that were made, even though he didn't get a diagnosis. It was very helpful.

Re: Auditory Processing Disorder

Australian Hearing are good. DS was screened by them at age 6. Things must have changed since then because they also told us that he could be screened but not tested until 7. This was a few years ago though. They screened him to not be at risk though and his teacher pushed for another opinion, which...
