Re: tips for feeding a prem/small baby

Thank you so much ladies :) This gives me so much hope that WE can do it :) I am super lucky to have a very supportive husband & Big Boys who will help in any way they can. From my past experience with my local hospital they were really great with support in NICU, I just couldn't find the right supp...

tips for feeding a prem/small baby

Hi Everyone, Its been a long time since I posted or even visited the site. It was so very helpful with my last DS who was very small @ 1650g 36wks. I ended up EEing for him for a little over 2yrs (2yrs 2months  ) My question now is: I am 21weeks pregnant and things are looking as though they a...

Hi rainbow_mamma :) Just wanted to say Hi and that you are doing a wonderful job for your little one. I haven't been by in a while. I am coming to the end of my EE journey (bub will be 2 next week). I haven't had a lot of experience with mix feeding. But have used formula for my other children. Gene...

have you tried a shield? might help with some of the pain & help keep bub at the breast. I EE and have been for 23months now & would thrown my pump away in a second if DS would have fed. But in saying that it is possible to EE and not need to FF :) Either way you need to do what's best for you & bub...

need some help please

I was hoping someone might be able to offer a little advice or experience. Ds is 22month and I EE for him. I am super excited that he will be my first WHO baby :D My problem is that I will more than likely finish up expressing soon (have gone back to work and kinda over pumping) he currently has 3/4...

Ouch not fun cltay hope it clears quickly for you. you still need to wash in warm/hot soapy water and can rinse off in cold then sterilize, sorry if I confused you :? Unfortunately you would need to wash your pump after each use especially until the thrush clears up :( Bottle's always need to be was...

Hi cltay :D Welcome to the forum. Well done for getting this far. it is hard work especially in the early days, when trying to build a supply & take care of your new bub as well as your self. You don't have to wash your pump piece's after each session. You can place them in a clean container and pop...

Awesome job tses :D I went down to 3 pumps after bub was 1, but have never had the supply that you have. I only ever cracked 1L mark a couple of times. Good thing though I always had plenty to satisfy DS. Now at 20months I am down to 2-3 & that gives me about 500ml a day, Ds has 3x140ml in 24hrs. If...

I'm very interested in this one too. Have been EEing for 20months. Ds gets that there is milk too but will bite also.

The other day he had a little suck, and will come up often once I have been expressing and want some squirted in his mouth

Hi Mackey :smt006 You'll find some fabulous help & tips on here :) I have been EEing for 20 months now. I had pace feed my bub, as he use to guzzle & then bring it back up. It worked really well for us & the most he has ever taken at a time is 140-150ml but that's rare normally only 120-130ml & that...

When I was EEing I had a couple of tricks. First I made sure I pumped whenever DH was home, he could deal with kids. Second I pumped at nap time. Third I sat on the floor and we played simple games while I pumped. It wasn't so easy, and it took planning to make sure I had everything on hand. I hope...

Depends on my objective. If I have somewhere to be then it's time based (= usually the worst sessions). Generally it's until I feel that the breast is empty, or I feel like I'm no longer getting a good yield and compressions aren't working. So, call me "Ms All of the Above". ^^^^ Me Too  Somet...

Hi esyt :) I feel your pain on the house front, 18months & I'm not sure I've caught up  You are doing fabulous expressing for your bub & feeding a toddler :D I found I suffered a major supply drop around the same time maybe a little earlier. My bub wasn't prem but very small (1650g) and wasn'...
