Awkwardness 101

Today was Grandparents Day/Book Fair/Book Parade at my kids primary school. After the concert, the P&C served tea and coffee and cakes. As I'm a member, I got roped in to help. I don't drink coffee or much tea so I knew this would be interesting. Anyway, I was in charge of the milk and sugar and lid...

Re: Spin-off from Wilfred's thread

Ok, so my original post was 10 mths ago now. While DD1 hasn't actually asked for a bra or something yet, she is getting 'big' esp compared to most of the girls in her class. A lot of clothes she wears (just normal dresses/t-shirts) seem to exaggerating the curves. She has also been complaining about...

Re: Facebook statuses you're not going to actually post

The joys of kids. * DD1 cut DD2's hair when she was 5 * DD2 to her own hair when she was 5 (almost 6) * DS stuck blue tacky stuff up his nose and he's only 4. Can't wait to see what he does when he's 5  Yes, DD1 and DD2 did get up to other stuff too, but nothing like the stuff up the nose. It...

They have tried and it doesn't work. In fact it works the opposite and he gets more involved

Re: Why can't our mummying job do this?

Yeah, sounds like a broader issue. I don't think it is possible to have a demanding job and a huge sporting commitment and be an engaged involved partner in a relationship. Something has to give. Work is important and you are important - what is the benefit to the family of the sport/refereeing? I ...

Re: Why can't our mummying job do this?

I guess it's just the last straw for me. It's come up a lot that if he wants to do something it pretty much happens. If I want to do something I weigh it up with what the family is doing etc eg I couldn't play soccer because I wouldn't be able to do training due to not having someone to look after t...

Why can't our mummying job do this?

DH's work has this deal that if you work 'too hard' in the year you are rewarded by being taken overseas with all the other 'high achievers' to have a 'break'. It is for an extra long weekend and you're paid, the company pays for everything and you aren't docked annual leave or anything. This year i...

Re: 15 kg of rice!

So you're going to dye a whole heap of rice and get the kids to make rice pictures for christmas pressies :-) I can't think of many things that are less likely to happen than that Jessles! I can come up with lots of weird and wonderful suggestions for you :- ) * How about a rice meal fundraiser for...

Re: Childcare $ claim confusion - new question

I put the claim in online and it said I was eligible. We paid the fees and the preschool provided us with the receipts and said this is what we need to get the benefit from the Govt. So dufus here took Mr 4 and Miss 21 mths to Centrelink to find out what I had to do next. 45 mins later (which I know...

Re: unplanned home birth kit

I've watched a lot of Call the Midwife, so I believe you need newspapers, boiling water, towels, change for the public phone, a 1950s hairdo, a few nuns and a big lock to keep any fathers out of the room. And all the glass things they have and that tube thing to give you a clean out first and a lov...
