But DP was playing clarinet. I hope the cat got up the tree in Peter and the Wolf...DP and fellow clarinettists dread that bit :|
What happens if he doesn't make it? Do the clarinettists have to walk home in shame?

Well done DigDig

I have just offered an antique washcopper to a friend - hopefully that will amount to a significant gap in my laundry where I can put a new freezer :)

Sick - again!

So sick of winter - I have been slowly getting over a cold this last three weeks, and today have woken up with another (different) set of cold symptoms. Thanks, dude in the office who 'soldiers on'

Re: Oobiwoo messed up my homework (warning - maths within)

Freerange - you have got me there - I have no idea what they are. We are only up to year 5 - are you ahead of us? We used to do something called 'matrices' where we manipulated grids of numbers, but they took it out of the curriculum just as I started to learn it, and I never found out what they wer...

Re: Oobiwoo messed up my homework (warning - maths within)

What is it? I keep hearing maths terms I've never heard of....maybe we call them differently in the uk? Dd1 doesn't return to school until Monday....her school had an extra week off. Hey Lu What would you call the algebra equation you use to solve this problem? I was learning these 30 years ago - t...

Re: Oobiwoo messed up my homework (warning - maths within)

Freerange, my former big boss was a 'male champion of change' who made a joke at an all-staff meeting about his wife's driving. Grrrr Unfortunately, with all things 'women' and to a lesser extent 'diversity' being the subject of some attention and long-overdue efforts to improve, there are clever pe...

Re: Oobiwoo messed up my homework (warning - maths within)

That is really cool Freerange. I had a dead fish handshake at work last week - it is weird! Kids are funny in how they respond to prejudice, aren't they? Watching old Fawlty Towers episodes has given us some good conversations about racism and satire. We love maths homework here. Mostly because DH a...

Oobiwoo messed up my homework (warning - maths within)

Oobiwoo came home with one problem for maths homework yesterday - a word problem best solved with a quadratic equation. I'm a bit strange and I love quadratic equations - I love finding an elegant solution and keeping everything neat and balanced. I was showing Oobiwoo how to do them, and about thre...

Re: One of our own

I'm so surprised and sad to hear about Four&out and her daughter. I've not been looking at the forum much lately and usually avoid this thread like the plague... take care Feebes and I hope you are able to help F&O's family too. My close friend and I went to four&out's last weekend. She's 'our' pho...

Re: The past 10 days

Sorry Feebes - have just got back online. Definitely leave it. It might be the toughest thing you ever do to put your game face on and go back to work with someone who has upset you, but likely the best outcome all-round. Especially if you really like the other aspects of the job. Think of it as a c...

Re: The past 10 days

Hey Feebes I'm sorry you are having such a difficult time. You won't feel like this forever, but it is really hard while you are going through this grieving process. I'm glad the GP has given you some time, hopefully you will be more 'with it' when you go back to work. I'd leave things well alone wi...
