Re: Think I need some perspective on this one...

If it helps, know that you are not alone...I know another forumite has had something similar with the paper plates vs crockery for dinner...again it's about culture and ceremony which is so intrinsic to holidays like Christmas.

Re: Think I need some perspective on this one...

What you've described is a clash of cultures and I don't think that the reaction of your inlaws is all that surprising given the central role of food in a central holiday in Australian culture. I'm glad though that something has been worked out and I hope you can enjoy tomorrow. (()) Karleen This is...

Re: Indulge me

Congratulations! This year I enrolled in a Diploma of Modern Languages to study Chinese (with my daughter). It has been incredibly intense! Like you I wondered how I managed 5 subjects a semester as an undergrad all those years ago. It's not just having kids around, it having to make the world go ar...

Re: Women's work - worrying

And then I wonder why I feel like 'workforce' work is MORE significant, MORE satisfying and MORE valued than the work I did during those years; not just family work but community work, volunteer work, caring work, campaigning work. And then I think F*#K the patriarchy. And then ... I get back to wo...

Re: Test results (trigger warning)

Mostly, an abnormal screen is nothing at all. Apparently most women who are screened have something seen that triggers another look....there are other concerns though that do give e the heebie geebies! http://www.motherjones.com/politics/201 ... ast-cancer

Re: Long-term b/feeding with a prolactinoma/hyperprolactinem

You may find that with established lactation reduced prolactin levels do not significantly impact milk supply. Early in lactation milk production is very dependent upon prolactin but this is not so further down the track.

Re: Re lactating a 3yr old

Kids this age either want to breastfeed or they don't, they don't really care what the mum wants (ask any mum who's trying to wean a 3 yo whose very keen)....so you can offer but he may or may not want to start again.

Re: New research

Yeah there's useful research that comes from the Nestle Research Center too but there's an agenda that underlies their work as there no doubt will be in this case also. Sadly. Another one of their projects is a textbook. I was asked to write a chapter. I have declined to do so. Methinks they may be ...

Re: update from me

Biggest hugs AP. I wish I were closer so I could be a good visitor. The reality is that none of us know how long our lives will be, our semblance of control is illusitory. All we can do is out best day every day and I am sure you are doing that.
Many hugs!

Re: Parental leave cuts undermine breastfeeding and child he

14 000 or so reads now and 1200 shares on Facebook so I'm pretty happy. Yankee I think you are in a pretty unusual situation with your workplace. Personally I think there should be an across the board decent system for everyone- ie remove the inequity but as things stand some people getting decent l...

Re: Parental leave cuts undermine breastfeeding and child he

Yes, it's had 1500 views so far and 174 Facebook shares. It really helps when people share (and comment on the website) because it lets the editors know that this is a topic that people are interested in.
