Re: Nice things to do for oneself

I am on orders to do 'nice things' for myself on a regular basis.
Pooping without an audience counts, right?

Re: One of our own

Sending love to her family.
I was thinking of making a donation to Careflight, as a tribute.

Re: Anyone here do big batch cooking?

I wouldn't say I do 'big batch' cooking, but I have some meals that are basically doubled. And, I have fussy kids... who won't eat anything some nights. As an example, I did tuna mornay for dinner last night. We had a guest over for dinner, yet I still got 7 meals of leftovers. That one freezes and ...

Re: Your techniques to calm down fast

I am highly prone to yelling. Especially considering that my middle girl has just started treatment for sensory issues, and I keep finding things she has damaged- and youngest girl is showing signs too (nothing like having to hide 95% of the scissors in the house, only to find a bath towel cut with ...

Can I also add 7kg lost? That's half way to my goal weight.

Re: The 2017 declutter thread

A friend of mine is trying to get me to 'declutter' to her level. Apparently, each bed only needs 2 sets of sheets- 1 on the bed, and a spare. Um, no. 2 sets cotton, 2 sets flannel, are a minimum when you are a co-sleeping family, IMO. 1 gastro bug and you get so far behind on the washing! But, when...

Re: Overlocker encouragement needed

Do it!!
I have a second hand overlocker, still with original box. I got it out long enough to convince DH that 'I need to keep it'. I made 4 skirts for my girls, then packed it back away- 2 years ago.

Re: The 2017 declutter thread

We are in serious decluttering mode at the moment. Miss 10 decided to clean out her shoes, and ended up throwing out almost everything. Cue emergency trip to shops, to buy new sneakers!! As well as the decluttering, part of my mission has been to reduce what comes into the house. I only realised a f...

Re: Canberra

My 10 year old had her school camp in Canberra, a couple of weeks ago.

After living in Canberra for 5 years, she had forgotten how cold it gets. I had to shove extra warm layers into her bag, when she wasn't looking. Caught her wearing the extra stuff when she got off the bus. :-D

Re: The Martian

I read the book, then saw the movie. And the movie was so good, I was still on the edge of my seat through some parts.
Great book, brilliant movie. I don't think any other actor would have been able to pull it off.

Re: orthodontic work

have you looked into different options that actually change the shape of the jaw instead of moving the teeth. I know it sounds much more drastic but it is done over a period of time using clear mouth guards which are regularly adjusted. The belief is that the teeth are not the problem rather the ja...

Re: Youngest child less likely to be bf

Not true here. First child had her last BF 2 days before her first birthday. That was back before I knew about ABA, before I learned about full term feeding. Second child- BF for 5 years 8 months. Third child- BF for 4 years 2 months. Fourth child- just passed 4 years 2 months, still feeding. Feeds ...

Re: Favourite binge watches

It sounds like you like similar shows to us. If so, I highly recommend the Flash/Arrow series. Also Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow. Unfortunately, you kind of have to watch them in order, since they do crossovers between the series. But it's worth it.

Re: Working parents and housework

We do the bare minimum during the week. As long as we have clean clothing to wear, lunchbox containers to use, and we can walk around while carrying a sleeping child to their bed- it's acceptable. We moved into this house 2 months ago. We still have a shed full of boxes to unpack, but we have run ou...

Re: Sunburn help

My legs would always return to white very quickly. If I didn't use the moisturiser, they would peel first. My skin is either red or white. Never brown. (Sometimes orange, if I try to use a moisturiser with a self tanner). Did I mention we just moved near the beach? And I am actually glad we have had...
